About Manhattan
Originally established in 1874 as the town of Hamilton, Manhattan was the first town in the area. Initially there was just a store, a school house and a blacksmith’s shop. The name changed in 1890 when Manhattan’s population was 150 residents. The town has grown to over 1500 residents, but is still the same wonderful Montana town with a charming main street and a strong sense of community.
Located a ~20 minute drive West of Bozeman Manhattan has scenic views of the surrounding mountains and nearby Horseshoe Hills. The Gallatin River flows by just north of town.
